How many boards do I need?

Measure the deck along the direction the boards will run (length) and across it (width). The calculator counts rows of boards, adds joins for rows longer than 5.4m, and works out your clip boxes.

Irregular shape, steps or a picture-frame border? Call 0456 776 666 or send us a sketch – we'll do the take-off for you.

Estimate only – add edge and fascia boards for exposed sides, and allow a few spares for cuts. Framing, footings and delivery are extra.

Which WoodVance decking is right for you?

All three are co-extruded composite boards, 5.4m long, R11 / P5 slip rated and fixed with the same hidden clips. The differences are the look, the weight, the warranty and how far apart your joists can be.

Composite decking FAQs

Questions, answered

Does composite decking get hot?
Any deck in full summer sun gets warm, and darker colours get hotter. WoodVance says its boards stay cooler than traditional composite. For north-facing decks and pool surrounds choose a lighter colour such as Beige or Antique Silver.
Will it fade or need oiling?
No oiling, sanding or staining. The co-extruded shell is UV-protected to resist fading, though all outdoor surfaces weather slightly. Colour can vary between production batches, so order all boards for one deck at once.
What joist spacing do I need?
WoodVance maximums (residential / commercial): Ultra 350 / 300mm, Flex 400 / 350mm, Eco 450 / 400mm. Use closer spacing for diagonal boards and stairs, and support every board end on a joist.
Composite or merbau?
We sell both. Merbau usually costs less to buy and feels like real timber, but needs oiling every 6–12 months and bleeds tannin when new. Composite costs more up front but never needs oiling and won't splinter.
Can I use it in a bushfire-prone area?
Check your property's BAL rating first (VicPlan, your council or building surveyor). WoodVance has a BAL-29 bushfire test report for its decking – ask us for a copy so your builder or surveyor can confirm it suits your deck.
Is it OK around a pool?
Yes – all series are R11 / P5 slip rated. Use the 6mm clips for faster drainage and a lighter colour to keep it cooler underfoot.
Do you deliver?
Yes – we deliver across Melbourne. Ask us for a delivery quote. Boards are 5.4m long and 15–22kg each, so make sure there's clear access for long lengths.
