SHAPESCAPER steel edging is essentially maintenance-free and offers superior durability with minimal upkeep.

Key Maintenance Points:

  • Self-Healing Properties: Abrasions to the rust patina, even back to bright metal, will naturally reform to a protective layer. Redcor steel is not a coated steel, but has protective weathering properties throughout its entire thickness.
  • Basic Cleaning: Occasional washing down with water is all that's typically needed to maintain appearance.
  • Stain Management: Any run-off from the initial weathering process can be removed with a mild 10% white vinegar solution if addressed relatively soon after staining occurs.
  • Sensitive Installations: If installing in areas sensitive to run-off, allow the patina to develop off-site before installation to minimize staining risks.

Each edging length requires 3-4 stakes for proper installation.

  • Multiple Installation Methods: Can be secured by screwing from the front through aligned holes, or using self-tapping screws in non-aligned positions from either direction.
  • Profile-Specific Options: Lower profile stakes (230mm, 300mm, 400mm) can be installed with a rubber mallet, while longer stakes (580mm, 780mm, 1180mm) may require a stake driving tool or pre-drilling in harder ground conditions.
  • Safety Conscious Design: All fasteners should be positioned below soil level to prevent injury during garden maintenance, with above-ground connections using the supplied rivets.
